Aerosolization
The process or act of converting some physical substance into the form of particles small and light enough to be carried on the air i.e. into an aerosol.

Air-Sac
Pockets in avian respiratory system that fill with air allowing birds to fly.
Albumen
Egg white.
Anthelmintic
Drug used to kill intestinal worms.
Antibiotic
Medication that destroys microorganisms/bacterial infections.
Aviculture
The act/study of raising and caring for birds.
Bioavailability
Degree to which a nutrient can be absorbed and utilised in the body.
Brooder
An enclosure for keeping baby birds in semi-natural nest conditions.
Cere
Tough band of skin covering the nares.
Chicory Root (Inulin)
Chicory root is composed of inulin - a prebiotic that encourages the growth of healthy gut bacteria.
Choana
Opening between nasal cavity and throat.
Cloaca
Cavity at end of avian digestive tract for excretion.
Clutch
Eggs produced by birds often at a single time in a nest.
Coccidiosis
Parasitic disease which affects the intestinal tract, caused by a coccidian protozoa.
Crop
A bird's crop is a muscular pouch located in their neck and is an enlargement of their esophagus which stores food prior to digestion.
Crop Needle
A piece of equipment used to feed formula to a baby bird, directly into their crop.
Ectotherm
A cold-blooded animal that is dependent on external sources of body heat, such as reptiles. This is also the brand name for our reptile range!
Egg-Bound
Condition in hen birds where an egg is unable to be passed and gets stuck in the oviduct.
Extrusion/Extruded
Extrusion cooking is a process that combines a range of ingredients into a pellet. Extrusion ensures improved digestibility, palatability and safety for your animal.
Feather Sheath
Tube of keratin that surrounds a developing feather. Eventually breaks off and lets mature feather unfurl.
Fledgling
Juvenile bird that has left the nest and is learning to fly.
Frugivore
An animal which derives energy and nutrition primarily from fruits and vegetables.
Gizzard
Often also referred to as the Vetriculus. An organ in the digestive tract which has thick muscular walls that are used to grind down food. After swallowing, food goes through the crop and proventriculus before entering the gizzard/ventriculus.
Gravid
Carrying eggs or young.
Gutloading
The process of raising an animal's prey with the intention of passing those nutrients to the animal. For example, coating crickets in our Multical Dust for added nutritional benefit when a lizard consumes the cricket.
